The bass doesn't get enough credit. We're here to change that.

What is Bass Club?

More than a lesson.
It's a community.

Bass Club has been running for over five years and has built a loyal group of dedicated bass players who show up week after week. It's not a drop-in class โ€” it's a proper musical community with familiar faces, shared history and a genuine love of the instrument.

Every session is hosted by Rodrigo Lemos of Online Guitar School. The format is consistent โ€” so you always know what to expect โ€” but the content is flexible, shaped around the song of the week and what the group needs. Think of it as a weekly workout for your bass playing, with a full band feel even over Zoom.

What actually happens

Every session follows a consistent structure, but the content changes each week. Here's what 30 minutes of Bass Club looks like:

1

Warm-up

We ease in with familiar exercises to get your fingers moving and your ears tuned in. Nothing too demanding โ€” just enough to shake off the day.

2

Scales & technique

A focused drill on scales or a specific technique โ€” slides, hammer-ons, muting, groove feel โ€” always chosen to complement the song of the week.

3

Music theory โ€” in context

Theory is woven naturally into the session, never taught in isolation. Understanding why a bass line works makes you a better player โ€” so we explain it through real music.

4

The song

The centrepiece of every session. We work through a real bass line together โ€” breaking it down, discussing the groove and feel, and playing it as a group. A new track every single week.

5

Improvisation

We finish by taking what we've learned and using it freely โ€” exploring, experimenting, and developing your musical instincts over a backing track.

Famous bass lines
across every genre

From the deep pocket grooves of funk to the walking lines of jazz and the driving pulse of rock โ€” we cover it all. Every week is different.

Rodrigo Lemos

Rodrigo Lemos

Rodrigo is a qualified musician with a degree in Music Performance and Production from Middlesex University. He has taught hundreds of students guitar, bass, ukulele, theory and band workshops โ€” and has been running Bass Club for over five years.

His passion for the bass guitar goes beyond technique. He believes the bass is one of the most misunderstood and underappreciated instruments in music โ€” and Bass Club exists to change that. Every session is designed to show you just how much the bass contributes to the music you love.

His teaching style is warm, patient and deeply personal. He has a talent for making complex material click โ€” whether that's a tricky groove, a jazz walking line, or understanding how your bass line relates to the chord structure above it.
